All of Zombieland's distributors seem to promote a large range of films, from family friendly films such as Django, all the way through to grisly horrors. This means that there is no specific target audience for any one distributor, probably because it would be far too restricting to do so.

Silent Hill's distributors however seem to mainly specialise in movies of a 15 certificate meaning that their target audience is predominantly adults and older teens who like horror movies.

Zombieland's main production company is Columbia Pictures which is a division of even larger Sony Pictures. This means that more distributors around the world are willing to take on the movie and sell it in their country. As a result, this film became a great success worldwide.

Silent Hill's main production companies were Davis-Films and Konami. Davis-Films' earliest record on IMDB was back in 1993, and since then only 36 films have been made. Most of these tend to be within the horror or thriller genres. As a result,I'd say that these companies cater to a rather niche market. However, they have had distributors from around the globe promoting the film, which means that despite the fact it's from a small production company, it's reach has been worldwide.

For that reason, I'd say that Davis-Films would be most likely to release my film. This is because my movie will be a low budget, indie psychological horror which is very similar to the movies that they have released in the past. Although now Davis-Films is to high budget to be an indie company, it's certainly not the biggest.

As well as this, their movies don't tend to have massive starts like Johnny Depp or Angelina Jolie, therefore they're probably more comfortable releasing a movie with new actors and an unknown directer than say Columbia, Paramount or Sony.

Some other independent film distribution companies:
These small, UK based film production and distribution companies are far more likely to consider my work than any other because they deal mostly with small, unknown actors and directors who are just starting out. These companies know how to make a small movie a success, how to market it and distribute it so that more people are likely to see it. Therefore they know they've not got much to loose is the movie flopped.

How Will This Research Effect My Ideas?
